Lindsay Merrill, AMFT

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Lindsay is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) with a Master's in Clinical Psychology and a background in performing arts education. Her experience as an educator sparked a passion for therapy, witnessing students navigate challenges and emerge stronger. Now, Lindsay helps clients of all ages tap into their inner strengths and resources to overcome struggles, inspired by the resilience of the human spirit.

Lindsay loves working with children, adolescents, adults and families to address issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, achievement/academic strugggles, low self-worth, and self-destructive behaviors.  Her experience working in a residential treatment setting with teens and adults has equipped her with the expertise to provide intensive support to those with complex and acute mental health needs, helping them navigate challenging symptoms and build resilience. She guides her clients in building self-awareness, curiosity, and self-compassion in order to move towards change that feels nourishing and sustainable rather than harsh and self-defeating.

Having spent over a decade as a dancer, Lindsay also recognizes the importance of attending to the mind-body connection and regulating one’s nervous system to create a sense of safety in the body. Lindsay is trained in EMDR and can utilize this modality to help clients process traumatic memories or difficult life experiences, which ultimately relieves distress and makes room for new, more functional beliefs and behaviors. She aims to help her clients transform their pain into empowerment and learn practical skills to help them move bravely away from unhelpful patterns and towards a more meaningful, peaceful, and joy-filled life.

Lindsay knows how incredibly challenging therapy can be, but her clients would also tell you that sessions involve plenty of laughter, lightheartedness, and sometimes even fun! She believes in the value of embracing both our light and our darkness in order to be at peace with ourselves on the deepest level. She tailors her approach to each individual’s unique needs, personality, and goals for therapy, and her work is above all rooted in the values of authenticity, non-judgment and unwavering compassion.
